# # Guidelines: # - 50-70 words (AI Overviews cite 50-70 word blocks most reliably — shorter gets skipped) # - Start with a direct answer sentence containing a specific number or fact # - Include at least 2 specific data points (dollar amounts, percentages, comparisons) # - Include location/context where applicable # - End with a personal-context hook ("use the calculator below to...") # - Do NOT use for H2s that label interactive form sections (calculator inputs, results) # - DO use for H2s that pose or imply a question readers would search for %>

CSM pays slightly more and pays back faster. CAPM is the right entry cert if you're planning to eventually get PMP — it's from the same PMI body and aligns with traditional PM methodology. CSM is better for agile-heavy tech teams.

CAPM Is the PMP Stepping Stone

CAPM is designed as the entry point for PMP certification. It covers the same PMBOK knowledge areas and is issued by PMI — the same body that issues PMP. If your goal is eventually getting PMP, starting with CAPM is the logical path.

CSM from Scrum Alliance is issued by a different organization and doesn't contribute to PMI's PDU system or PMP eligibility.

Common Questions

Should I get CAPM or CSM as my first PM cert?
CAPM if you work in traditional industries (construction, healthcare, defense, government) or plan to pursue PMP. CSM if you work in tech/software companies with Scrum teams. The team methodology you work in daily matters more than the salary premium difference.
Is PSM I better than CSM for beginners?
PSM I ($200, no renewal fees) is often preferred by technical teams. CSM ($495 + $100 renewal) has longer brand recognition and includes a 2-day training. Both are entry Scrum credentials — PSM I has better long-term ROI.
